"Cin Takes a Holiday."

My Impressions: Light-hearted…and charming as expected.

The Plot Thins: Like the first book, this is a modern spoof of a classic Grimm Tale. This time the author takes Cinderella and her step-sisters out for a night on the town. Cinderella is a dust-busting neat-freak who's allergic to just about everything but air. Because of all the sneezing, wheezing, rashes, and Benadryl, she's become a socially-repressed shut-in. My Impressions: Light-hearted…and charming as expected.

The Plot Thins: Like the first book, this is a modern spoof of a classic Grimm Tale. This time the author takes Cinderella and her step-sisters out for a night on the town. Cinderella is a dust-busting neat-freak who's allergic to just about everything but air. Because of all the sneezing, wheezing, rashes, and Benadryl, she's become a socially-repressed shut-in. (I guess they didn't have internet there.) Her step-sisters are some-timey…nice, then naughty, then nice again. The step-mother turns out to be Mommie Dearest…no surprise there. And lastly, Alice (yes, that Alice) makes a cameo as the blonde-haired, blue-dress-wearing fairy Godmother.

Lore and Lunacy: There's some hilarious drivel about a naked dream and an allergy-curing rabbit hole. It's difficult to explain without sounding like a loon myself. Anyhoo, like its predecessor, this is a fable…which means, there is a moral lurking in the woods along with Alice. Moral: Never trust your step-mother. They're always evil. (Clearly, the Grimms had some mommy issues.)

Minor Beefs: Nothing much to complain about except the length, but I get tired of beating the same drum so, keep calm and read on.

Random Gray Matter: My thoughts tend to lean the same way as with book one…should this really be a stand-alone? Wouldn't it be better to combine all three fables into a Fairy Tales Anthology? Or if not, please warn the populous to expect a short story. Because…on Amazon it says the book is 160 pages long…which it is. But there's only one word on some of the pages.

The Verdict: Reads like a plot outline. Still, its short, cute, and funny. Thus, I'm happy.

Cinderella has a wonderful family life with two caring step-sisters, a step-mother, and her father who is out exploring. But she is allergic to everything and keeps herself locked in the attic where she can keep it clean, make everyone's cloths, and go insane. Her sisters feel sorry for her and hire a sorceress to enchant Cinderella so she can attend the ball where the prince is looking for a wife. All seems to be going well and they are to be married when the sisters become jealous and have the Cinderella has a wonderful family life with two caring step-sisters, a step-mother, and her father who is out exploring. But she is allergic to everything and keeps herself locked in the attic where she can keep it clean, make everyone's cloths, and go insane. Her sisters feel sorry for her and hire a sorceress to enchant Cinderella so she can attend the ball where the prince is looking for a wife. All seems to be going well and they are to be married when the sisters become jealous and have the spell reversed.

This is a cute story. Cinderella is nuts from her allergies yet has a chance at a normal life. Too bad her step-sisters become jealous and reverse the spell. I really liked how the sorceress is named Alice and can create rabbit holes to change people's lives.

This is a quick read and will take you more time to click through the pages than to read the entire story. But it is a good retelling of Cinderella.

As a child I loved the story of Cinderella. As an adult I am so gad Reut Barak has come up with the adult version, I laughed through out the story. Instead of being meek little Cinderella, she is Nuts, which the book points out quite often. In this version the Stepmother and sisters were good and loved Cinderella or did they? Cinderella suffers from multiple allergies and keeps herself locked in the attic. The sisters go out to find help for her from a great sorceress, They run through just abou As a child I loved the story of Cinderella. As an adult I am so gad Reut Barak has come up with the adult version, I laughed through out the story. Instead of being meek little Cinderella, she is Nuts, which the book points out quite often. This was a really fun version of Cinderella. The ending put me off just a little it seemed a little rushed and disconnected, but it was still a great story.

Set in far away lands with modern tendencies, these are three short re-telling of the classic tales - Snow White, Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. They were very short indeed but humorous, I had to admit I laughed! The characters are filled with such attitude, especially the Mirror in Snow White he was a hoot!

Snow and her evil stepmother who tries in vain to kill her, Cinderella who is allergic to everything and then there is Red with her evil Grandmother.

They are humorous but I found them too sh

They are humorous but I found them too short, 10-15 mins each and I hate the way they were edited  - especially Cinderella's story where the countdown to midnight was spread over several pages.

They were lacking something for me, but if you are looking for a short funny read to kill 10 mins give them a read.

Through several humorous stumbles, it is Cinderella who needs help to remember her prince. Reut Barak has really hit this collection out of the park. Each of these installments are familiar, yet fresh. They have unique and fun twists on them and a whole lot of humor and wit thrown in. I love re-tellings and re-imaginings of classics.

I think each of these are great quick and hilarious reads for anyone looking for an escape and laugh.

My personal favorite of these three was Cinderella. I think the allergy aspect was ingenious and ironic.

She has a degree in fantasy and science fiction from the University of Atlantis and this record can be found in the central library, now twenty thousand leagues under the sea.

She likes phoenix riding, dragon fighting and painting the roses red.
